About Bob Neuwirth
Bob Neuwirth was one of American music’s most soulful songwriters. He was a mentor and creative touchstone to Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Kris Kristofferson, Janis Joplin, and a generation of artists who followed, and he always valued artistry over charts or fame. Witty and wise, he lived on his own terms and left behind songs whose depth and craft place him among this country’s finest songwriters.
For T Bone Burnett, Bobby was a big brother and the person who taught him the most about what it means to be an artist. This evening is a celebration of Bobby’s songs, and an invitation to help give him his long-overdue place in American music. Joining them is an acoustic string band of Dennis Crouch, John Leventhal and Colin Linden, under the direction of David Mansfield.
About the Film
For Fun and For Free is a documentary celebrating Bob Neuwirth’s life and music. Proceeds from the evening support the film’s completion.
